Utterly Yum dry colocasia (arbi) recipe


  • 250 grams small sized colocasia (arbi)
  • 2-3 tablespoons oil
  • 2 small tomatoes, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 medium sized green chilli, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • Salt as per taste


Wash and steam/boil the arbi. (Steam/boil until Al Dante).Peel and cut the all pieces into half. Simultaneously, heat a wok/kadhai and add the oil. After 4-5 seconds, add the chopped tomatoes and minced garlic. Keep pressing until they are nicely mashed. Stir until the oil begins to separate. Now, add turmeric powder, salt, arbi, ajwain and chopped green chilli. Mix it nicely. Leave it covered for 1-2 minutes on a medium flame. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves. Serve with hot chapatis or paranthas.
